Dear Alumni,

The SEATO Lab was chartered on December 23rd 1960, which means that SEATO-AFRIMS is approaching its FORTIETH Birthday. As the current Commander of AFRIMS, I and the current AFRIMS staff, would like to celebrate this occasion in two ways:

First, we'd like to locate as many of the SEATO/AFRIMS alumni as possible;

Second we'd like to invite all to celebrate with us.

As to the second goal, we realize that most of you will not be able to physically join us in Bangkok to celebrate this event. We, indeed, will be planning on a gala sometime in early 2001. We'd hereby like to invite alumni and "friends of AFRIMS" to join us for that event (watch this space for more info on the time, date and place).

But, for those of you who cannot physically join us, we'd like to provide a means for you to participate via the internet.

First, we'd like you to help us locate the "missing". If you click here you will see a list of known alumni with an annotation as to status.

To maintain privacy, we will not actually post addresses and phone numbers or email to the net. What we ask you to do is either send us an email with info about the MISSING, leads on how or where to find them OR better still, to send an email (or note) to the members that you are aware of and have them contact us directly. (Some people may wish to remain missing for their own reasons).

As we build our list of contacts, we will send out periodic updates on plans and progress. Obviously, we'd prefer to do this via email.

We would invite interested parties to revisit this website periodically for updates. As the gala approaches, we will ask all known alumni to post a note back to us, to tell us where life has taken you since your SEATO/AFRIMS days.

During and after the actual birthday celebration, we will post info and pictures, so that you can 'participate' in the fun with us.

Now a note of explanation: We have chosen to limit the list of alumni in an arbitrary manner to Officers and senior personnel only. We have failed to include the names of NCOs. NCOs remain a vital part of the life and success of AFRIMS, and we want to include them. We have already made an effort to contact the few who are listed in the current AMEDD Outlook directory. We will be more than happy to add NCO’s to the interested alumni if they can be located. IF YOU CAN HELP US LOCATE THEM, PLEASE DO SO!

So, here is where we stand as of AUG 2000: we are asking you to help spread the word of this upcoming anniversary and to help us locate the alumni. Unfortunately, some of them will have died during the intervening 40 years, please tell us if you know that to be the case.

The data that we have chosen to display on the net includes only the name, section, status and date of departure from BKK, as well as whether or not we have located that member or not. Please help us to correct any errors in that data. Also, if somehow we have missed a member (especially the NCOs) please feel free to email us any info you have to help us locate them. Either send us, or them, an e-mail or contact them in some other way, to let them know that we are looking for them. Or you can go to the data entry form and send us info directly.

We'd also like to have your nominations for "friends of AFRIMS"; folks who may never have served directly but who had an interest in the life and work of SEATO-AFRIMS.
